Abstract

Apart from the sculptural expression that Donald Judd develops from the minimalist sphere, the American author explores other creative pathways, such as working with plots from the superficial. Next, the terms in which Judd develops that concept, and the way in which he applies it in his spatial creations, are analyzed. Thus, the study is limited to works carried out by the author from the eighties, and they are analyzed according to the organizational principles used in each case. Principles that are based on the application of a grid as a means of spatial articulation, and that are analyzed to discover relationships between them. With the study, a close connection is discovered between all the creations analyzed, which begin with his series of prints in art, and which are later transferred to projects and interventions in architecture. In short, the importance that Judd grants to the grid in the creative areas in which he works at a specific moment in his career is detected, and how he manages to translate it spatially, exemplifying the leap from the plot to space.
