The objective of endodontic treatment is to prevent and treat pulp and perirradicular pathology to preserve the natural dentition when it is affected by these diseases. This treatment consists of the preparation, disinfection and obturation of the root
canal system, in order to recover and maintain periapical tissues health. During biomechanical preparation, operating errors such as steps formation, false pathways and perforations could be incurred for various reasons. Currently, bioceramic materials are used to seal perforations due to their biocompatibility
and bioactivity, which is considered to induce a favorable tissue response from the host to
promote tissue repair.
Case description: A 53-year-old woman presented at the Postgraduate Endodontics Clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Cuenca, who required a crown change of the dental organ 3.7. The radiographic examination revealed a previous
endodontic treatment with an incomplete obturation of the mesial canals and a possible deviation and perforation of the same, in addition said dental organ presented an apical lesion, for this reason it was diagnosed as asymptomatic apical periodontitis, finally non-surgical endodontic retreatment was initiated where a bioceramic sealing cement was used.
