Abstract

Abstract: This research proposes a change for the lost wax method that aims to overcome some of the barriers present in the jewelry elaboration. This change focuses on the wax substitution, as the model’s material for flat-surface designs, for other material that may be obtained by laser cutting methods. The analysis was based on the process time execution and the superficial condition of pieces made from acrylic, medium density fiber board, and boat wood board models. The superficial condition was studied by microscopic image analysis. The results proved that acrylic is the best substitute for wax because it allows to reduce the process time execution, improves the superficial condition, and diversify the flat-surface designs.
