Abstract

Abstract: Today the textile industry is the biggest global consumer of dyes. There are about 10 000 dyes available in current market, and annual production estimated of 700 000 tons approximately of these synthetic compounds. A great dyes variety exists and they are classified because of their structure and application method in the textiles production process. The industries dedicated to these activities use a great water quantity for their production. The textile industries wastewater effluents are filled of sundry pollutants, but especially with dyes which are used during the whole fabrics manufacturing process. In this article, different dyes used in textile industry are classified and described, as well as wastewater tertiary treatments which turn out to be ideal for this type of industrial effluent.
