Applications of Design Thinking to the design of services for tourism: Integrating innovation, ergonomics and user experience.
Abstract
The city of Valencia has experienced over several decades, an exponential increase in the number of tourists who frequent it. Although this phenomenon is well received by the people dedicated to the sector, problems of various kinds have been generated mainly due to saturation in services.
This research explains how through the application of Design Thinking and its tools, it is possible to manage a multidisciplinary and multicultural work team to identify and respond to a need in tourism. In addition, the interaction between object / environment / activity / user is studied, the latter being the axis and starting point for ergonomics, which by applying the User Centered Design methodology, allows to reach the projection of the solution in a design element. Although it is a contextualized investigation, the result can be applied in other geographical and cultural environments.
Keywords: Design Thinking, User Centered Design, tourism, service design, ergonomics.
