Abstract

This article describes the advances made in the application of rapid prototyping technologies (RP) in the development of personalized prostheses for the hand physical rehabilitation in patients with Chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). The methodology created considers aspects related to the physiology of hand movement and mobility problems suffered by chronic RA patients, especially in the specific movements of the metacarpal bones and phalanges. From the technological point of view, digitalization techniques have been applied in the taking of patient data, the use of Computer Aided Design, CAD in the generation of a virtual model and the formalization of an exoskeleton for rehabilitation through the use of RP.
