Bioenergetic character structures: between acting and psychology

This article focuses on analyzing the character structures of the Bioenergetics of Alexander Lowen (founder of the Institute of Bioenergetic Analysis), to expose them as optimal tools in the psycho-physical construction of the characters in a staging. Bioenergetics is a body psychotherapy that works with the body through postural awareness, physical contact and movement expression, which affect your personality and relationship with the environment. It is a way of visualizing and understanding the personality in terms of the body and its energy processes, since muscular tensions manifest repressed emotions. The structures of oral, masochistic, rigid, schizoid and psychopathic character will be approached, from their psychological correlations, bioenergetic condition, physical characteristics, essential experience and origin factors. Thus, it will be explained why these can offer a unifying approach between character creation and psychology, providing new information for the contemporary stage.
