Contemporany processes in the practice of fresco technique

Abstract

The technique of fresco has sought to clarify, narrate and understand certain institutions and ideologies of the various societies, regardless of its iconoclastic or iconodolous condition. It has been a communicative file of the lived context, forming a decorative part of our architecture and our space by narrating social facts and sensations (Armada, 2020).

Nowadays, the technique is in a clear depopulation due to the disappearance of the wall or the occultism. In response, new questions and ways of shaping the technique are being processed in the current artistic paradigm, based on how it’s done and its denotations within the productive process. In order to form the discourse, painters such as Cennino Cennini (2009), Joyce Kozloff, Young-Sun Jin (2004) or Josep Minguell (2014) and Sonia Armada (2020).
