Abstract

The current discussion on contemporary artistic practice revolves around the changes and innovations that the artistic field has been facing after converting social life into the axis of research-creation. These changes have demanded from the artist the adoption of more creative techniques, methods and tools for research that allow the approach of the abstract, the symbolic and the imperceptible as a unit of meaning. In this direction, the role that archives diagrammatic and cartography have been playing as fields that enable the construction of conceptual models that 1) simplify complex phenomena 2) promote the recognition of apparently irrelevant factors, and 3) allow, that beyond the representation of reality, it is possible to build different visions of reality. This amalgamation of new tools also makes it possible to evaluate specific situations of social life through the expressive resources of art and aesthetics that go beyond the idea of systematization and open the door to experimental genres and hybrid models consistent with a hybrid world in which that the traditional technical means tested in art begin to show their insufficiency.
