Abstract

This text is a reflection on the work of the unclassifiable and multifaceted Laurie Anderson (Illinois, USA, 1947), whose interdisciplinary production breaks the boundaries between avant-garde and mass culture, inserting itself in contemporary modernization processes where visual arts, sound and word coexist. We highlight the creative approach of a proposal that encompasses different media, highlighting experimentation, the use of inspiration as a creative engine and its projection on other artists. We study the philosophical influences of Wittgenstein, Beckett's aesthetics of repetition or Burroughs' tactics of cutting and fragmentation, as well as the impact of his work on artists such as Douglas Gordon, Björk, or Pipilotti Rist. It highlights how Anderson challenges conventions by fusing technology and cross-cutting narratives in an interdisciplinary approach, which transcends boundaries and stimulates the exploration of new forms of creative expression.
