Abstract

This article deals with contemporary analog photography due to a search for the hauntological image, an emerging definition from the concepts of hauntology and sonic hauntology raised by Jacques Derrida and Mark Fisher, respectively. In the first part, the technological and cultural change process is addressed from the first wooden and cardboard cameras to the digital modernity of the sensor and the pixel. In the second part, mobile applications and the change in the photographic environment are explored thanks to social networks and software filters. Finally, to answer the question, why do we use film cameras and artifacts from the past in the modern iPhone? The concept of hauntological image is proposed, found in the search for a virtual past in an equivalent material nostalgia through photographic processes and circuits combined between analog and digital.
