Analysis of the Piano Study I by Héctor Quintanar
Abstract
The composer Héctor Quintanar, mainly recognized for his contribution in the field of electronic and electroacoustic music, has a contribution to the repertoire of contemporary music that is probably more significant in the acoustic repertoire; within his catalogue, stands out his late work of Three Studies for piano composed in 2000, mentioned by the composer as a group of pieces with pedagogical purposes and with numerous influences from composers of the 20th and 21st centuries; an analysis will be addressed whose objectives are to expose the influences mentioned by the composer and his goals in the field of musical teaching of contemporary music as well as to obtain the structure used by the composer and his compositional technique.
