Abstract

Abstract:

The androcentric and patriarchal construction History of Art offers a story starred in addition exclusively by men, ignoring or minimizing the work of the women creators. In the sixties the feminist movement fought to recover the contributions of women artists, giving them a deserved place in the History of Art. Almost, from the artistic practice, feminist art questioned culturally assimilated concepts, rethinking aesthetic criteria and proposing new forms of representation.

The artists analyzed in this paper claim their creative, active and entrepreneurial capacity, turning their body into an object of reflection and tool for artistic experience. These are practices that use the body as a brush to reinterpret, question or parody the clichés of the male creator genius figure, specifically the heroic gestures of Jackson Pollock’s painting and the explicit objectification of the female body in Klein’s anthropometry.

Keywords: Art, feminism, body, painting, action.
