Everyday rituals in performance and post-dramatic theater. Political and social problems

Abstract

This dissertation critically focuses on the daily ritual orders related to social and political problems in the work of the artists Rosemberg Sandoval from Colombia and the Rimini Protokoll theater society from Germany, whose conceptual and formal elements arise from related disciplinary fields, but at the same time tangentially different: the performance that comes from the visual arts and the performative theater, also called post-dramatic theater. In both disciplines, the themes covered by their works are taken from common life and used in art through conceptual actions that make them visible, especially in urban societies. These artists use concepts referring to current realities presented de facto as art, thus avoiding the prejudices produced by the aestheticization of the political derived from theoretical currents influential in the systematization of these disciplines.
