Water policy in the Argentine Republic
Abstract
Water is an essential element for the sustainability of life and has formed a field of action for the Argentine state since its creation at the end of the 19th century. The institutional framework for water in the country has undergone profound changes as a result of the transformation of the national public bodies responsible for management, the formation of an area for agreement at a federal level, and the sanction of regulations related to water management. This context has been marked by the adherence of the Argentine State to various proposals and objectives in terms of accessibility and water protection. It is a qualitative reflection work that explores and systematizes different bibliographic sources, legislation and sectoral documents. Development allows us to observe the persistence of institutional and sectoral fragmentation in water management, a situation that has repercussions on the comprehensive and long-term articulation of a resource of growing importance.
Keywords: water management, environmental federalism, coordination.
