Historical Testimony of Zhiña Community: Sumak Kawsay origins and construction
Abstract
This study aims to provide a historical Review of the experiences of the inhabitants of Zhiña Community, during the Hacienda Age and then during the community life, regarding Alli Sumak Kawsay practices. Researchers used several sources and mechanisms to collect information: minutes and meeting reports, personal records from community leaders, community documents, brochures written by Lauritas Missionaries, and others. This information provides evidence of several events that happened for many years. Moreover, community elderly participated in the research through oral testimonies, who have shared unprecedented facts happened during the commune existence. Finally, the study presents an analysis of the Alli Sumak Kawsay elderly´s concept; considering that, nowadays, it is a concept commonly pronounced but not defined or explained on its real meaning essence, neither
on its practice in daily life.
