Associate Professor of the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Munich, Germany. He has carried out field research in Colombia (between the Zenúes of the Caribbean Coast, and the Nasa de Tierradentro, Cauca) on the topics of Traditional Medicine, Cosmology and Ecology, as a Prometheus Scholar has conducted research among the urban healers of Cuenca and Saraguro . Apart from his long researches in Latin America (more than ten years) he teaches subjects of Social and Cultural Anthropology since 1993 (teacher's experience of more than 20 years), among other topics, theory and history of Anthropology, research methods, Medical Anthropology, and Cultural Ecology. He has worked as a visiting professor at the University of Leipzig (2010 - 2012), as well as at the Popular University of Munich. In addition, he has a Postdoctorate from the University of Munich. He has published seven books, and articles in indexed journals. He has directed master's, bachelor, and doctorate theses. He was a Fellow in the PROMETEO program of the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT) in the years 2014 - 2015, as a member of the Contemporary Anthropology program and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Cuenca. He currently works as an associate professor at the Institute of Anthropology at the University of Munich, and is an integral member of the "Group of Social and Comparative Studies" (GESC) of the Universidad del Cauca (Popayán, Colombia).
