Abstract

Introduction: Frantz's Tumor represents 0.2 - 2.7% of all pancreatic tumors. It affects most frequently to women, between 18 - 35 years old, it has a low degree of malignancy; however, it is locally aggressive.

Clinical case: It is a case of a woman who is 22 years old, with a history of recurrent pancreatitis, who presented chronic pain exacerbated by palpation in the upper hemi-abdomen and mesogastrium. After complementary studies, the presence of a mass with a mixed pattern in the body of the pancreas was determined. A corporal-caudal pancreatectomy was performed, histopathologically compatible with solid pseudopapillary neoplasia, free margins and positive immunohistochemistry for: b-catenin, CD10 and progesterone. The patient remained hospitalized for 8 days, presenting a low-debit pancreatic fistula that was managed conservatively and on an outpatient basis, being discharged definitively on the 21st day after surgery.

Conclusion: solid pseudopapillary neoplasms represent a challenge for the surgeon, who must individualize the approach, both diagnostic and therapeutic, to achieve minimal complications with a low recurrence rate.
