Abstract

El COVID-19, causado por el virus SARS-CoV-2, fue detectado por primera vez en Wuhan, provincia de Hubei-China, en diciembre del 2019, propagándose por todos los países, lo que ha generado un problema de salud pública a nivel mundial, con una altísima morbi-mortalidad. Para inicio de agosto del 2021, se reportan 206 millones de contagios y fallecimiento de 4 millones de personas aproximadamente; siendo más prevalente en países en desarrollo con precarios sistemas de salud. En Ecuador, existen 493 767 casos confirmados con pruebas PCR y muerte de 31 870, entre confirmados y probables, según el MSP
