Online Submissions

To submit articles to the Journal of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, you must register and log in to our platform. You can access it through the Log In option for existing accounts or Register for new users in: https://publicaciones.ucuenca.edu.ec/ojs/index.php/medicina

Submission Process

Once registered, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Submit Article option.
  2. Complete the following submission stages:
    • Start: Confirm editorial policies and select the appropriate journal section.
    • Upload Submission: Upload the main document in Word format.
    • Enter Metadata: Provide essential manuscript details, including:
      • Title and abstract
      • Full names and email addresses of all authors
      • ORCID identifiers for each author
      • Institutional affiliations
      • Designation of a single corresponding author
    • Confirmation: Review all entered information and confirm your submission.
    • Next Steps: Check manuscript status and follow-up actions.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors must ensure that their manuscript meets the following requirements before submission. Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines will be returned for correction:

  1. Originality:

    • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.

  2. Document Format:

    • The file is in Microsoft Word format.
    • The document does not contain author names to ensure anonymity.
    • Standard ISO A4 size is used, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
    • Pages are numbered starting from the title page.

  3. Text Style:

    • 1.5 line spacing and Arial 12-point font.
    • Images, figures, and tables are integrated within the appropriate sections of the text, not placed at the end.

  4. Length:

    • The manuscript complies with the page limit defined in the Publication Guidelines, according to the article type.

  5. References:

    • Whenever possible, URLs or DOIs are included for cited references.
    • References follow the Vancouver citation style.

  6. Style and Bibliography:

    • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic conditions specified in the Author Guidelines, available in the "About the Journal" section.

  7. Anonymous Review:

    • If submitting for peer review, the manuscript follows the instructions to ensure anonymity, as indicated in the Ensuring Anonymous Review section.
