Plagiarism control
Revista de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad de Cuenca uses the StrikePlagiarism software for similarity detection to verify the originality of submitted content before publication. This software compares submitted documents with content from websites, libraries, books, and proprietary databases.
Each manuscript received by the Journal undergoes a similarity review as quickly as possible. StrikePlagiarism generates a detailed report that includes:
- The similarity percentage based on the number of matching words.
- Highlighted sections, expressions, or terms found in other documents.
The Editor carefully reviews the similarity report to assess potential plagiarism. If 10% or more of the content shows potential irregularities, the following steps are taken:
- The report is sent to the Editorial Committee and the authors.
- The Editorial Committee decides whether the manuscript should be rejected for fraud or if it may proceed to peer review, provided the authors make the necessary revisions.
- When necessary, the similarity report may also be shared with reviewers to support the evaluation process.
