Abstract

The movement towards Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBO) began in the late 20th century, when dental professionals began to question traditional practices based on authority and individual experience. In the 90, training programs in Evidence-Based Dentistry appeared in various academic institutions and professional organizations around the world. The emergence of online databases and journals in dentistry, as well as improved access to scientific literature, have also facilitated the adoption of OBE in clinical practice. In this review article, we will discuss some basic and preliminary notions. From its origins, going on to   conceptualize it within a new paradigm, we will include the steps to follow to adopt it, the objectives of its use, its link in clinical decision-making, its integration with current tea-ching models, the advantages and limitations of its use and an example of its application.
