Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare, rapidly progressive bacterial soft tissue infection that can lead to sepsis, systemic toxicity, multiple organ failure and death. The estimated incidence in the western world is approximately 0.24-0.4/100.000 people
per year and is among the most difficult emergencies faced by health care professionals. Timely treatment in this case
with surgical debridement and application of silver sulfadiazine can minimize the associated mortality and morbidity.
