The dual conceptualization of the body in the aesthetics of the contemporary scene

Abstract

The body is a tool that remains on the frontier of the different views that art and society seek of it; the body is a social construction, therefore, it is revealing itself, transmitting, expressing, because for the proposals that have made sense, the search is to break the mold, not to pigeonhole. This essay is based on the notion that in our society a dualistic way of looking at the body is conceived, which has been built from the cradle of the Western world. The performing arts speak from a physical body, an element shared between the actor and the spectator: with the body other bodies are read, that is why the symbols and constructs that are generated from it are so powerful and effective. This is way of looking at the body in this text.
