This paper shows that identity in art is constructed, especially if it is classified in social stratification or castes, Identity depends on a social order. Currently black culture seeks its own identity, however, after centuries of racial mixing, black and Latin American identity cannot be classified, and rather it would be summarized as 'Afro-Indo-Latin American', because it cannot be reversed in the processes of miscegenation, which have become more complex with the passage of time.
Keywords: Miscegenation, race, identity, Latin American, painting, Afro-descendant.
