Abstract

In this communication, we consider that in the approach to alterity in contemporary art there is a lack of interest in delving into the uniqueness of the different artistic experiences of non-Western artists. In other words, it seems that institutions, curatorial strategies and art critics limit themselves to attributing judgments related to national identity, gender, religion, color, etc; instead of accessing tradition. We refer by tradition, to the fact of paying attention to the value of creativity and the different existing sensibilities. It should be noted in this sense that our approach arises from a research perspective that combines theoretical reflection and artistic creation, where the objective is to briefly glimpse the defects of inclusion initiatives to propose creative strategies that imply overcoming the applied anthropological gaze to art.
