About the Journal
1. Focus and scope
Revista Economía y Política is a scientific publication of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the University of Cuenca, whose objective is to stimulate the debate on socioeconomic phenomena at the subnational level, that is, at the regional and city level. Consequently, it has a pluralistic and multidisciplinary approach, including quantitative, qualitative and mixed studies. Rigorous and original papers that address economic, political, social, institutional and environmental dimensions are welcome. Papers on Latin America are particularly welcome.
The main objective of the journal is the dissemination of methodological research results, empirical studies, case studies and selected reviews of the state of the art; as well as the promulgation of the reading and discussion of the aforementioned topics.
Revista Economía y Política, edited by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the University of Cuenca, is published every six months and only in electronic version (ISSN-L No.2477-9075), in Spanish and English depending on the language in which the contribution is received. Each publication is identified with a DOI (Digital Object Identifier System), to improve its positioning in global search engines. The printed version was maintained until Issue No. 29 (ISSN No.1390-7921).
Revista Economía y Política is aimed at students, teachers, researchers, professionals and the general public who work in development and innovation within the areas of specialization of the publication, with the aim that the published contributions can support the activities of the productive sector, as well as the development of new research.
2. Editorial Management
Revista Economía y Política does not establish any cost or APCs for processes of reception, evaluation or publication of scientific articles, without exception.
2.1 Peer review process
The original manuscripts received are filtered through two stages of quality review: the first consists of an evaluation through the "Analysis of Relevance" form made by the Editorial Committee of the journal; this opinion may recommend the direct acceptance of the manuscript or request changes that will be sent to the authors for their modification.
Once the first filter is passed, the article continues with the evaluation stage under the "external double-blind" method, maintaining the anonymity of both the author and the evaluators (see review form). The recommendations of the reviewers can be:
- Publishable without modifications
- Publishable with minor modifications
- Publishable with major modifications
- Unpublishable
As it is a peer-reviewed publication, the Responsible Editor approves its publication based on the opinion of specialized peers. Receipt of a document does not imply a commitment to publication.
After the opinion of the peers, the Responsible Editor will evaluate the recommendations and decide whether or not to proceed to publication, a result that will be communicated to the authors within a maximum period of five months from the manuscript submission.
If the article passes the second stage and has the approval of the Responsible Editor, they will be placed on the waiting list for their typographical correction, layout and publication.
Manuscripts are published in the different editions of the journal, according the under the criteria of the Editorial Board.
Cases of controversy
If there are situations not considered in the general editorial process of the publication or cases of controversy, it will be attended by an Extraordinary Editorial Board to obtain a resolution based on the Journal's Ethics Guidelines and specify the way to proceed with all members involved. The decisions taken in Council are the total responsibility of the Revista Economía y Política, and whoever is under the position of Responsible Editor of the publication.
