The purpose of this study is to estimate the impact of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) and Related Legal Persons (RLP) on the economy of Loja for the year 2023. The simplified ACE method was used, and data was collected from surveys of students and official institutional records. The results show that the total expenses associated with these institutions in the local economy are 75.8 million dollars, which represents 4.84% of the provincial GVA of Loja and 6.49% of the Cantonal GVA; The UTPL and the RLP generate 5,398 direct and indirect jobs, their relative importance in relation to those employed in the private sector of the province, canton and city of Loja is 10.6 %, 14.8 % and 16.5 %, respectively. This demonstrates the significant contribution of the UTPL to the local economy and its significant impact on regional development.
