The Decline of Orthodox Economics? The teaching of Economics in the Argentine secondary school from the curricular designs
Abstract
Does the single thought predominate in the teaching of Economics within the Argentine secondary school or is there a plurality of theoretical approaches? What place do heterodox and alternative currents have in the curricular contents of Economics? Are contents of recent problems such as feminism, environmentalism and the Social and Solidarity Economy taught?
This paper aims to provide some answers to these questions by presenting some results of the research project "Economy and society. The curricular designs and the textbooks of Economics in Argentina”, carried out by the Economics area of the Human Development Institute of the National University of General Sarmiento. We propose to give a snapshot of the current state of the teaching of Economics in the Argentine secondary school from the comparison of the curricular designs of 6 subnational jurisdictions of the baccalaureate modality: Buenos Aires, Capital Federal, Córdoba, Jujuy, Mendoza and Río Negro.
Keywords: teaching of economics, Argentine secondary school, curricular designs of economics, orthodox economics.
