Abstract

The article makes a brief analysis of the entry into industrialization and modernization as ways to achieve Western-style development, however, the maintenance of a colonial oligarchy that is mutating in the different periods and changes in the accumulation of the capitalist system, hindered the modern development of Ecuador. of the capitalist system, hindered the modern development of Ecuador. Ecuador has been defined as a peripheral country, a primary exporter in the international division of labor: minerals, bananas, cocoa, oil, are the products historically requested by the industrial countries of the center. Today we are witnessing a reprimarization, based mainly on oil and minerals. The Government of the Citizen Revolution has initiated a new modernizing process: Change of the productive matrix, development of local talents, organization of large knowledge centers, implementation of mega constructions to obtain energy, extraction of minerals, among other things, will be the proposal to leave the irresponsible extractivist matrix of the oil era, according to the National Plan for Good Living, 2013-2017.
