Jean-François Exbrayat is a Research fellow of the National Centre for Earth Observation at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He obtained a PhD in hydrology from the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen (Germany) in 2011. He took a post-doctoral position at the Climate Change Research Centre of the University of New South Wales in Sydney (Australia) to work on uncertainties in the representation of soil carbon processes in Earth system models used in the fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Dr Exbrayat then joined the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh to continue his research on the terrestrial carbon cycle. More precisely, he contributes to the development of the CARDAMOM framework which is a data-assimilation system that uses satellite observations to contrain large-scale models. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and has participated to multiple international conferences, convening and chairing sessions, presenting results, including invitations as keynote speaker.
