Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Germany

Has a background in Physical Geography and graduated on climate-relevant trace gas emissions from tropical ecosystems. Following a PostDoc and Senior Scientist position at the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), Germany, he holds the Chair in Landscape, Water and Biogeochemical Cycles since 2014 at the same university. His research is on water as an integrated driver of many ecosystem related processes, including nutrient and pollutant transport and turnover. Research in his group spans from field scale experimental approaches in hydrology and biogeochemistry to landscape scale development and application of process-based and coupled hydro-biogeochemical models. Apart from European studies, his group has a focus on tropical mountainous ecosystems, particularly in South America and Eastern Africa. His current publication record is available at http://orcid.org/0000-0001-9720-1076. Since 2015 he is the vice dean of the Faculty 09 - Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, and Environmental Management at JLU and since 2016 the chairman of the Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) www.uni-giessen.de/zeu.
