The Daily Society Through the Figurative Fields of The Violent Season (1958) of Octavio Paz

This paper aims to corroborate the worldview of Octavio Paz, from the inaction of everyday society, which is notorious in a fragment of the poem “Masks of the Dawn” of The Violent Season (1958). His criticism of the system for the absence of social and political commitment reveals two concepts that Mikhail Bakhtin bases on Aesthetics of Verbal Creation: his intentionality as an author and the concomitant expression according to the discursive genre used. To verify these two premises, I will include as a methodological instrument the figurative fields or the figurative provinces addressed by Stefano Arduini, which include the tropes of metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, metonymy, ellipsis, antithesis and repetition, in addition to its variations.
