Abstract

This paper presents a set of possibilities for comparative studies in the field of literary relations, based on the teaching experience of Brazilian literature and the 1st Colloquium "Brazilian Literature in Higher Education" at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar - Ecuador Campus. Initially, it aims to establish some theoretical and methodological differences between conventional comparative literature and comparative studies. Next, it introduces some threads of formal and thematic proximity among Brazilian and Ecuadorian authors, since the processes of independence to contemporary scenarios, mapping the profusion of academic-cultural actants involved in reception and dissemination in both countries over these three centuries. Two prominent actors are highlighted, namely Paulo de Carvalho Neto and Alfonso Carrasco Vintimilla. Finally, it presents some trends in the contemporary literatures of Brazil and Ecuador, which could be studied in future comparison.
