Abstract

This essay aims to demonstrate the necessity of viewing the teaching of reading and writing as a complex process involving multiple dimensions: linguistic, paralinguistic, discursive, cultural, ideological, and psychological. For this reason, the task of giving voice to others so they can appropriate it is not an exclusive function of the Language teacher but becomes the fundamental function of all teachers in High School today (According to the Educational System of Argentina - Mandatory - from 12 to 18 years old). I believe that embracing the transversality of teaching reading and writing in an educational institution will allow for accompanying and stimulating the development of communicative competencies in young students.
