This article examines two short stories by contemporary Chilean women writers, identifying shared narrative and thematic features. It approaches these texts through a theoretical framework that brings together feminist critiques of beauty and affect theory in cultural studies, with particular attention to disgust. This reading shows that “Reptil” and “Sacar la lengua,” short fictions by Lina Meruane and María José Navia, articulate a warning about the domestication of female and infantilized bodies within a social order structured by cruelty.
