The purpose of this research was examine the perceptions of the adolescents of Cuenca regarding the natural heritage of the canton. The significance of this work lies in the analysis of opinions about such sites within a specific age segment, which has been scarcely addressed in previous research, particularly in the Latin American context. The research provides crucial information that can assist public officials in decision-making within the framework of locally implemented environmental policies. Additionally, a methodological model is presented along with data collection and analysis techniques that could be beneficial for application in other contexts. The findings of the study indicate that the appreciation of local natural heritage sites
is significantly lower compared to recreational parks, suggesting the need for interventions that enhance the use and valuation of natural heritage spaces.
