Womens’ writing: environmental damage, maternal order, cartographies of violence

This essay aims to present a reading around three contemporary novels written by women in Latin America, from a perspective that invites us to rethink the relationship with nature, on the horizon of affection and a political strategy that matches well with what Arturo Escobar calls “the defense of place.” The work seeks to articulate the mechanisms of environmental destruction and the impact of toxic discourse on the stage of a reflection anchored in violence, motherhood and femicide, in dialogue with gender studies and an ecocritical approach. La loca de Gandoca, 1991, by Anacristina Rossi (Costa Rica); Distancia de rescate, 2014, by Samanta Schweblin (Argentina); and Poso Wells, 2007, by Gabriela Alemán (Ecuador) are the corpus selected to think about the issues raised.
