Abstract

The present investigation has a qualitative approach with exploratory and application scope, has tried to solve a problem in the interior space of users in houses that have limited economic capacities, through the design with low cost materials, to improve their quality of life. In order to achieve all this, the methodology used was based on a bibliographical analysis, students from the last cycles of the Interior Design Career at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cuenca were studied to collect information. Subsequently, the selection of 6 homes in the sector of Llulluchas-Sayausí, Cuenca, was carried out by the tutors' teachers, representing the most emerging in the area as priority. Next, the students made architectural survey cards of the houses, and also resolved interviews to discover interior design problems. Using the data collected, the students proposed interior solutions to the spaces in a formal, functional and constructive manner under the tutorship of the teachers to generate design proposals with low-cost material. The draft was approved by users based on their needs and experiences in the use of furniture and space, this phase was motivational to start with the management of materials to private companies, the last step was the socialization of the proposals by the students towards the users. At the end of the project it was possible to show that low-cost housing solutions can be generated, improving comfort and safety for families.
