Since its inception, Pucara has embodied the University’s humanistic mission, addressing the social, cultural, and political challenges of Latin America. Humanities, essential to education and human dignity, face threats from increasing technocratization in universities and the commercialization of knowledge. This trend reduces individuals to uncritical consumers, undermining critical thinking and citizenship. Inspired by thinkers like Iván Carvajal, Boaventura de Sousa Santos, and Martha Nussbaum, Pucara advocates for an educational model that fosters ethical reflection, intercultural dialogue, and the pursuit of a fairer society. It highlights the importance of southern epistemologies and plural knowledge to challenge Western hegemonic logic. In times of crisis, Pucara embraces the task of revitalizing the Humanities as tools to cultivate critical, ethical, and socially engaged citizens, committed to societal transformation and sustainable development
