Sustainability in construction from the perspectives of urban development and territorial management in Ecuador

This paper deals with, in the case of the Ecuador, the theme of sustainability in construction seen from territorial and urban planning; intends to explore how these disciplines, but also public and policy technical administrative, can contribute to such sustainability to the extent that are called to influence human activities, both in terms of its location and its behavior over time, and these are that demand for its materialization buildings and infrastructure. For this purpose some theoretical background regard on sustainability of human development and in particular in construction, are formulated, then a set of goals are followed by a methodological scheme that has focused on development as central component and that is structured by the general recognition of the current situation of sustainability in construction in the territory and city levels, and the formulation of a desired situation, which requires the deliberate use of territorial and town planning to positively alter the course of events, in other words, to change current trends. Finally, the conclusions of rigour are presented.
