Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The journal Estoa acknowledges the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and scientific production processes. In this context, a policy is established to promote the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of these technologies by authors.

The use of AI systems is permitted solely as a support tool in activities such as information processing, data analysis, modeling, generation of visual resources, or improvement of writing, always under human supervision. Under no circumstances may artificial intelligence be considered an author or co-author of a manuscript, nor may it replace the intellectual responsibility of those who sign the work.

Authors must explicitly declare the use of AI tools, specifying their purpose, the stage at which they were used within the research or writing process, and the degree of human intervention involved. Authors also assume full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, scientific integrity, and ethical standards of the submitted content.

In specific areas such as the preparation of tables, figures, cartography, or any visual resource, the use of AI must ensure data fidelity and must not involve the generation, alteration, or manipulation of information that distorts research results. Images generated through AI may only be used for illustrative or conceptual purposes and must be clearly identified as such.
