Abstract

One of the main objectives in the addictive disorders treatment field is to encourage patient´s attendance to the treatment because the permanence in the treatment is related to its effectiveness. Thus, in this study was analyzed the extent to which certain therapeutic relationship factors are related to increased attendance in patients who attending to Therapeutic Community. A total of 90 patients and 8 therapists participated in this study. The results of linear regression revealed that that patient´s perceptions of a good therapeutic alliance, positive attitudes of their therapist and specific characteristic of Therapist Personal Style are related with more attendance. For these reasons, the study of these variables could improve retention rates in the treatment of drug addiction.
