In this paper, we will discuss about the way gesture has changed the artistic processes, and the relation body and painting that has been established at different stages and demonstrations using the body as a brush. However, the mimetic obsession has created great distances between the body and the painting. Plato thought the painting was under the knowledge levels, due to this knowledge has begun from the world´s imitation. On the other hand, Manet has created a turning point to generate a new artistic conception to break the academicism and the imposed rules by Occident. Painting as an action reflects performatives aspects of painting. The action mentioned not only refers to the production conditions, but also it implies that this masterpiece generates situations and meanings. Therefore, the work turns into performance by itself.
