Uso de la ozonoterapia para el control de la endometritis subclínica postparto en vacas lecheras
Abstract
INTRODUCCIÓN
Luego del parto, la contaminación bacteriana es inevitable y es normal en el 80-100% de las vacas. Sin embargo, esta disminuye paulatinamente hasta los 60 días, en condiciones normales, pero un alto porcentaje de vacas desarrollan endometritis subclínica (ES) y puede presentarse entre los 21 y 47 días posteriores a la recuperación histológica del endometrio (Dini, Farhoodi, Hostens, Van Eetvelde, Pascottini et al., 2015). La ES afecta el rendimiento reproductivo en hatos lecheros y provoca un impacto negativo en la rentabilidad y productividad en las ganaderías (Djuricic, Vince, Ablondi, Dobranic, & Samardzija, 2012; Trentin, Aires, Scheeren, Balestrin, Minela et al., 2015; Robichaud & Dubuc, 2015).
Diferentes terapias farmacológicas (hormonales y antimicrobianas) están encaminadas a reducir los procesos infecciosos uterinos durante el periodo postparto, no obstante, se busca alternativas para disminuir la presencia de residuos de fármacos en la leche y producir alimentos seguros e inocuos. El ozono (O3), en medicina veterinaria, se utiliza como terapia alterna para contrarrestar procesos infecciosos, pudiendo inactivar bacterias (Gram positivas, Gram negativas y anaerobias); además estimula el metabolismo del oxígeno en los tejidos, activa el sistema inmune, mostrando una alta eficiencia frente al uso de antibióticos o tratamientos alopáticos (Duricic, Lipar, & Samardžija, 2014).
El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el efecto del ozono intrauterino sobre la endometritis subclínica (ES) y el performance reproductivo en vacas Holstein Friesian.Downloads
