A not-so-basic design course, as an exercise in professional development

Education in Cuba is one of the systems that has undergone the most changes in the last ten years and within this, the subsystem of Artistic Education and, specifically, that of Visual Arts, which demands strategies that contribute to the constant improvement of its teachers and students. Basic Design is a guiding subject within the teaching curriculum of the student of Visual Arts, which gathers the theoretical-practical knowledge necessary for the understanding of the system-form, together with the basic principles of communication, and serves as a preceding level to the specialized knowledge of the career. Due to its importance, it is necessary to contribute to the professional improvement of the teachers of this subject of the provincial and regional academies of Visual Arts of the country, so that this fact makes possible the improvement of their pedagogical professional performance.
